Boat Oxidation Removal
Bring back the color and shine of a faded, chalky hull, without leaving your dock.
Official Detailer of the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi
From chalky back to glossy
Oxidation is what happens when UV breaks down the surface of your gel coat. The color goes flat, then chalky, and a dark hull shows it first. Wax alone can only hide it for a short time. The fix is to cut back the damaged layer and polish what is underneath.
We assess the hull, choose the right compound and pad for the condition of the gel coat, and work it panel by panel. On a dark, glossy hull, nothing hides, so we do not rush the pad work or the final wipe. Watch Brendon walk through it below.
Keeping it from coming back
Once the surface is restored, it needs protection or the sun starts over. We will finish with a protective coating, and a ceramic coating is the longest-lasting option for a boat that lives in the water here.
Common questions
Is my boat too far gone?
Most oxidized gel coat can be brought back with the right process. Heavy damage may need gel coat repair or paint, and we will tell you straight when we see it.
How can I tell if my boat is oxidized?
If the hull looks dull or chalky and a white residue comes off on your hand, it is oxidized.
